End-of-Life of Composite Materials in the Framework of the Circular Economy

Composite materials constitute an appealing choice in many industrial sectors, due to their unique composition and characteristics, such as low maintenance requirements, light weight, corrosion resistance, durability. However, the sustainable management of end-of-life composite remains a challenge. Recovery strategies, design aspects, interconnection are currently largely unexplored, while technologies involved circular economy (reuse, reduce, recycle, refurbish, etc.) could be improved. The current paper provides overview existing methods material waste management, presenting new prospects for strategies providing brief roadmap towards circularity industries. Finally, practices regard composites presented different European countries present applicability management.
